Comment In the absence
of specific 'tramway' or indeed 'transport' pattern
buttons, it would appear that East Ham Corporation used
this general titled coat of arms pattern button for its
tramway staff, at least from 1915 when it obtained 'County
Borough' status, up until the takeover of 1933. Prior to
that, East Ham was a borough (from 1904) and an urban
district council (from 1894).
The arms are heavily based on the neighbouring borough of
West Ham and were, at least initially, unofficial.
