The round disc on the jacket breast, which is almost
certainly a licence, strongly suggests that the individual
depicted is either a motorman or conductor; moreover his
relative youthfulness would also tend to mitigate against a
higher grade such as an inspector. Although the detail of
the cap badge cannot be made out, the overall shape
certainly corresponds with that of the wreath badge shown
above, suggesting that this pattern may have been worn by
all grades and not specifically by inspectors (sometimes
the case with wreath adornment)
